![]() Lake Natron is a short walk away and the Maasai guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Shooting stars, Milky Way, you can see it all. At night they lit a campfire and because there’s not much around, the night sky is amazing. Three course dinners and extensive breakfasts were standard. Within viewing distance were large groups of giraffes, zebras, dikdiks, and more. Quite decent, clean and well taken care of. After a glass of Tamarind juice and clear instructions not to go wandering outside of the camp, we were shown our tent. First impressions were also quickly proven wrong. ![]() So, yes, maybe the first impression is a bit “is this family friendly?”, especially if you’re not expecting it. Due to busy schedules we honestly didn’t have a clear idea of where we would be staying, because we hadn’t invested much time beyond a general idea. We had booked a package deal with safari and tents/hotels were included. Two nights… my goodness! Part of this was us not being well prepared. As a mother to a pre-teen who was seriously done with the drive at the time, I worried. No WiFi, no charging devices in the room. The environment was hot and dry and dusty and I didn’t necessarily see anything in the form of entertainment. We were a bit taken aback at the group of serious looking Maasai in traditional attire waiting for us after a long and dusty trip.
